About Me:
Lemme Prica Kebaabetswe is a PhD student in Microbiology, specifically in virology/immunology.
She attended the University of Botswana, where she earned the Bachelors’ degree in Microbiology in 2002 and without a career gap a Master of Science in Applied Microbiology 2004 (a degree she earned after being awarded the Belgian SADC Scholarship).
Upon completing her graduate degree she immediately started work at the Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute, a research partnership between the Botswana government and the Harvard University as a Lab Research Assistant, where she was also awarded the international Forgarty/Ellison Fellow as an outstanding research assistant. She was later promoted to Lab Research Coordinator a position that entailed overseeing day to day activities of sample processing, inventory, data capturing of study participants details, overall lab management and training of new staff. She was also a volunteer leader of the lab social committee which was involved in organising charity work and parties for the lab department.
Lemme is a Seventh day-Adventist Christian and she served the church for 2 years as a Youth Director a job that taught her a lot more on how to relate well with people. Through the Lord’s blessings in 2008 she was awarded the prestigious Fulbright scholarship as one of the two Batswana s to study for a PhD that she is currently enrolled in.
